Our 2nd studio album in 3 years, 'All In' celebrates the Shuffle Demons 37th anniversary with 10 new songs all instrumental songs and a great line up featuring Stich Wynston - drums, Kelly Jefferson - tenor sax, Richard Underhill - alto and bari sax, Matt Lagan - tenor sax and Mike Downes - bass.

ClusterFunk
ClusterFunk is their first CD of original material in almost 20 years and features 7 funky vocal tunes and 5 jazzy instrumentals all played in inimitable Shuffle Demons style. Available on iTunes.
For over 25 years, the Canadian jazz-funk-fusion band, The Shuffle Demons have been entertaining fans around the world. The band’s high energy out-of-the-ordinary live show bills them as folk, jazz and world music festival mainstays and has taken them on 15 cross-Canada and European tours, as well as through Asia, India and Australia. Now, the Shuffle Demons return with their first album of new material in close to 20 years - CLUSTERFUNK - an explosion of fusion that will keep crowds shaking to the funky jazz rhythms they’ve become accustom to over the band’s extraordinary career.
GREATEST HITS: 2004 The Shuffle Demons were always about the convergence of top notch musicianship & crowd pleasing antics, combining jazz, bop rap, free jazz, poetry & performance art into a musically audacious and visually stimulating show. It was a wild ride! The Demons played 1000s of sold out shows in Canada and Europe, traversing the country and the continent no less than 15 times from 1986-1997, building up a solid fan base that to this day will never forget the music and the antics...stopping traffic with the famous 'Spadina Bus ' walk around, playing a Mingus tune and really meaning it, thrashing around the stage in crazy interpretive 'Roach Death' dance, delivering the classic poem 'What do you Want?' |

From our first gig busking in 1984 at Toronto's Eaton Centre to playing for 50,000 at the Montreal Jazz Festival, we always felt that each show was unique, and each fan and band member was part of something special. The interactions with the crowd during our walk arounds and our no holds barred performances captured the imagination of a whole generation of concert goers, and spawned many a jazz career. We're happy we got a chance to do it then, and glad that this compilation of our most memorable tunes is available now. None of this music could have been possible without the support of our fans, friends, families, fellow musicians, the media, agents, festivals and club owners and we thank you all!!
The music on this Greatest Hits compilation was taken from 4 classic Shuffle Demons albums released from 1986 to 1993. We've tried to squeeze all the demon favourites onto this CD, but alas some just didn't make the cut.
Enjoy this collection demonically and as we used to say ' Keep Shuffling!'

EXTRA CRISPY: 1993
The 'smell the glove' album for the Demons, this collection of tunes came near the end of the classic band formation when things had pretty much run their course and the band was getting kind of dark. From the bacon butt album cover to the 'band that wouldn't leave', this album was almost a parody of the original demons. Still, there are some great tunes on the album, some of which are on the Greatest Hits CD.

Recorded during two years of European travel, the energy and creative enthusiasm of their concerts is conveyed wonderfully. There are paragraphs about the venues, the travel, and the food of their six tours. The music displays their wide range of talents, but most of all their enthusiasm for their profession! Many new songs join the array of tunes from Streetniks through What Do You Want. The entire album is framed by the repeating 'boys of maple syrup' refrain.

WHAT DO YOU WANT: 1990
A blend of live and studio tracks at the height of Demon popularity. The first track starts out soft building into some amazing improv and the music doesn't stop until the closing notes of the crazy title track fade as the Demons leave the stage. This was a transition period for the band, so on the studio tracks, Perry White replaces Mike Murley.

BOP RAP: 1988
The most humour packed of all the Demons' albums, Bop Rap also provides the most variety of music styles. It contains a T.V. theme, a true story told in rap, a drinking song, Indian sounding music, Reggae, Christmas Music, a Thelonius Monk tune, and some classic Demon heads.
Recorded in 1988, this album featured the debut of the new Shuffle Demons wardrobe (by Kurt Swinghammer) and spawned the 'Personal Blues' video. 'East Berlin Angst' is a classic cold war rap, 12 Beer my Dear is everybody's favourite drinking song, and Oliagosi is just plain weird. Also contains the world famous Hockey Night in Canada Theme.

STREETNIKS: 1986
The album that started it all including some bonus tracks. Recorded in 2 days and mixed in one, this album captured the Demons raw street energy on vinyl and was an instant success. Streetniks spawned 2 MuchMusic video hits Spadina Bus and Out of my House, Roach, and sold 15,000 units as an independent album in Canada, the most by any Canadian artist pre Barenaked Ladies. The original vinyl featured 7 songs, but the CD has been expanded to 11 with some great live on the street and live in Europe material. From the opening strains of the Shuffle Monster, the Demons say it loud and clear... there's a new kind of music on the scene!
